List of Parent-Child Listings on the Tokyo Stock Exchange
Table that contains 230 publicly listed companies in Japan that have publicly traded parent companies. Useful for anyone searching for opportunities in parent-child listings.
Parent-child listings in Japan are a good hunting ground for stock ideas given the trend of parent companies buying out their listed subsidiares. This is a side effect of governance reform in Japan. EastAsiaStocks covers recent trends in parent-child listings well, so no need to rehash it here.
I’ve previously looked for a list of publicly traded stocks in Japan with parent companies but I couldn’t find one. I quickly compiled my own list below using AI for assistance. I definitely missed a bunch, but the table below should be useful for anyone looking for parent-child listings. There are ~230 names in the table below. Some aren’t strictly parent companies, but own substantial stakes.
I own a bunch of these including: 7122, 4224, 7614, 5753, 7229, 5658, 8291, and 4356. I found copying the entire list of child company tickers into a Koyfin watchlist helpful, as I can easily see financial metrics there.
Disclosure: I own shares in several stocks mentioned in this post. These securities could be sold at any point in time without prior notice. None of this is investment advice. Everything in this post is my own opinion and I could be wrong. Do your own due diligence.
